ABOUT.
Art is a gift from above, a gift of limitless visual expression translated through one’s spirit. I feel obligated to use this gift to create my best work possible but more importantly inspire many through the
context and messages embedded within.
I am a multimedia artist principally engaged in painting, photography, and apparel
design. My passion to professionally pursue art was augmented after I created my clothing brand
Phantom in high school which was well received by my peers. Recently, all of the themes within
my art are inspired directly by my spiritual beliefs, historical events, and the human condition.
I capture black and white candids with a stark and sharp, yet grainy film aesthetic that showcases
everyday people from all walks of life. The photographs are intended to demonstrate the nuanced atmosphere and human emotion showcased from different people amongst varying locations. The atmosphere of my photos are rooted in the subjects, places, and the
cultural elements captured. My paintings are composed of semi-realistic abstract portraits as
well as geometric abstractions that play on emotion, subversion, and symbolism. The viewer is taken into the unknown, relying on the symbolic elements within the composition to ultimately
unravel what is in question. Phantom, was inspired by my adolescence, a time
of teenage angst. The designs of my apparel represent the insurgent yet introspective
themes shared in many adolescent experiences. The ghost caricatures represent souls, particularly lost souls separated from all that is holy. These ghosts are tormented, dismal, and at times gory, in need of redemption and reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ.
Any type of media that an artist actively pursues can be a cyclic and relentless
exploration to assimilate new information and convey them to others. This exploration can potentially align with the initial aims of an artist whilst concurrently adding to them, helping to solidify their vision. Art is a direct blessing from heaven that shouldn’t ever glorify me, but only God. Ultimately, the passion is what makes my artistic journey continual.
